The Métis Rights & Sites app is an educational tool to promote the contributions made by the Métis peoples to Manitoba and Canada, with a special focus on human rights. It also serves as a symbol of reconciliation for the Métis Nation’s dark times and road to a bright future. Stories and features will be added over time.
Learn about the “List of Rights” created by Louis Riel’s Provisional Government in 1869, explore the Timeline of Manitoba’s Métis Nation with pin points leading you through the Métis Nation’s significant historical events, and discover 40 Métis Sites located across Winnipeg and Manitoba through the self-guided tour feature. Guided tours are available if arranged in advance at some locations.
This app was made possible through a partnership between the Louis Riel Institute (LRI), Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR), and the Manitoba Metis Federation.
