Sandpiper Gene Search – Atoms In Motion

Description

This app rips through the database that we built to do gene searches. If you type in a gene name it will furiously look through the names and the aliases to try and find a match. It will give you a search update as you go, so you can pick from a list. Once you select the gene of interest you will get a screen that contains:

HGNC ID
Symbol
Name
Family
location
previous symbols
aliases
previous names
alias names
Entrez ID

Additionally, the hand written summary (if available) from NIH, UniProt, and any other available data (I think that it is very comprehensive). It is a big database and takes a long time to load, but it is super fast to search.
