The LowSalt4Life app utilizes the device’s camera (for Barcode scanning), location and motion (restaurant and grocery suggestions). Bluetooth is not being utilized. A small user group will participate in a study designed to examine ways to decrease sodium intake for high-risk patients with a history of heart failure. Users can scan items in a store and receive recommendations for lower-sodium alternatives, and upon arriving at a restaurant, the location-based services can recommend menu items that are low in sodium. Users will have access to the app for 8 weeks, upon which the study period ends.
