최대한 간단하게 만들고자 했습니다. 회원 가입이 필요없습니다. 도서 검색 API를 제공하는 네이버, 알라딘 서버 이외에는 다른 서버에 따로 접속하지 않습니다. 회원 가입 자체가 없어서, 개인 정보 유출 걱정없이 마음껏 사용하실 수 있습니다. 다른 사용자들과의 소셜 네트워크 기능도 전혀 지원하지 않습니다. 그냥 책을 좋아하고 혼자 즐기시는 분이 쓰시기에 딱 좋은 앱을 만들고자 했습니다. 소스 코드도 개발자 사이트에 공개하고 있습니다. 관심있으신 분은 소스 코드를 가져다가 새로운 기능을 추가해서 사용하셔도 됩니다.

현재 지원하는 기능은 아래와 같습니다.

도서 추가는 모바일 폰의 카메라 기능을 활용하여 바코드 스캔을 하고 그 값을 도서 검색 API로 보내서 응답을 받아서 처리합니다. 제목, 저자, ISBN을 검색창에 입력해서 처리하는 방법도 지원합니다. ISBN 번호가 없는 오래된 책의 경우에는 직접 입력 화면에서 추가할 수 있습니다. 또는 백업 파일 형식의 Excel 파일로 만들어서 복원하는 방식으로 처리할 수도 있습니다.

도서 목록은 두 가지 모드를 지원합니다. 상위와 하위 카테고리로 이동할 수 있는 카테고리 탐색 모드와 전체 목록에서 검색할 수 있는 모드입니다. 둘 다 제목, 저자, 입력일 기준으로 순방향, 역방향 정렬을 할 수 있습니다. 카테고리 탐색 모드에서는 각 카테고리별 도서 숫자를 표시해줍니다. 분야별로 책을 얼마나 가지고 있는지를 쉽게 확인할 수 있습니다.

도서 관리 앱의 경우, 가장 큰 문제는 데이터 백업/복원입니다. 이를 위해 회원 가입을 해야 하거나 서버와 통신해야 하는 경우가 많습니다. BookLover 책사랑꾼은 데이터 백업을 폰 자체의 저장소 폴더를 이용합니다. 파일 형식도 사용자들이 가장 쉽게 사용할 수 있는 MS Excel 형식을 지원합니다. 백업 명령으로 생성된 엑셀 스프레드 시트에서 항목별로 값을 편집해서 다시 복원 명령을 실행하면 변경된 내용이 반영됩니다.

다른 도서 관리 앱에서 데이터를 가져오고 싶은 경우가 있을 수 있습니다. 이를 위해 BookLover 책사랑꾼은 데이터 가져오기( Import) 기능을 제공합니다. 앱마다 특화된 필드 형식을 모두 지원할 수는 없어서, ISBN 번호만으로 구성된 텍스트 파일만 지원합니다. BookLover 책사랑꾼 앱으로 가져오고 싶은 도서의 ISBN 번호를 담은 파일을 폰의 폴더에 놓고, 그 파일 위치를 앱에서 찾아서 가져오기 명령을 실행하면 됩니다.

BookLover 책사랑꾼은 도서 관리 앱입니다. 없는 기능이 많습니다. 지원하지 않을 기능들도 꽤 있습니다.

독서 관리 기능은 없습니다. 읽었는지 안 읽었는지는 따로 기록하지 않습니다. 앞으로도 지원할 생각이 별로 없습니다. 읽은 기억이 없거나 내용이 생각 안나면 다시 책을 읽으시는 게 더 좋을 것 같습니다. 매달 몇 권의 책을 읽는지 통계를 내거나 할 생각도 없습니다. 독서 목표를 설정하고 점검하는 기능도 없습니다. 그냥 책을 읽고 즐기시는 게 더 낫겠다는 생각입니다.

도서 보유 상태를 관리하는 기능도 없습니다. 위시 리스트는 없습니다. 남 빌려준 책 목록도 없습니다. 잃어버린 책 목록도 따로 없습니다. 예전에 이런 기능을 모두 넣은 앱을 개발해본 적이 있는데, 복잡한 기능 구현하느라 끙끙거린 보람이 전혀 없었습니다. 앞으로도 곁가지 기능은 추가하지 않을 생각입니다.

책을 읽은 독후감이나 메모 추가 기능, 없습니다. 모바일 앱의 작은 화면에서 뭘 입력하겠다고 끙끙거려야 하는지, 제가 다 답답해서 지원하지 않습니다.

당연히, 소셜 네트워크 기능, 도서 광고 기능, 없습니다. 그냥, 가지고 있는 책 정보만 관리합니다. 괜히 소셜하다가 소셜 프레셔만 받을까 걱정도 되고, 사실 그 기능 구현이 좀 복잡하고 품이 많이 들어가서 그렇기도 합니다.
