How to Use the App

At the bottom of the screen there are five tabs:

Home:

See a summary of the latest news and today’s news. You can click on the event it will take you to the full event details. The latest five news items can be scrolled through to view the headlines, you can click on the headline to view the full news story.

Calendar

This can be viewed in two ways; as Month To View or List View. You can switch between these views using the icons in navigation bar at the top of the page. On the centre left is a small calendar icon and on the right is a small list icon.

When using the Month To View and one of the dates is marked by a dot, this indicates that there is an event on that day. If you tap on that date, you will see the event appear below the calendar. Tap any event to see more detailed information and a map of the event location (if applicable).

In the List View, you can scroll through all this months events, in date order. Again, you can tap any event to see more detailed information and a map of the event location (if applicable).

You can even import an event into your personal calendar from your app, if you select the import icon. Please note that if an event is altered in this calendar it will not change the details in your personal calendar unless you re-import the data.

Messages

Shows you all the messages for your school or organisation. Also within this section you can assign yourself to personalised message groups, simply click on message groups to activate and deactivate which messages you would like to see.

News

Shows all the latest stories from your school or organisation. If you tap on any news item you will be able to see more detail.

Information:

In this tab you can view the schools documentation (if applicable ) such as there prospectus, news letters and links to further website links to more information. You can also share the app via email and social media

Calendar Filters:

Clicking on calendar filters, this gives you the opportunity to only see those calendar items that are relevant to you by selecting the Departments and Activities the app will display.

Study and Revision’s Qur’an content contains a rhyming, contextualised version of the Qur’an in simple English, compiled by a secondary school Headteacher and checked thoroughly by a traditional Islamic scholar. It is a compilation of hadeeth, Qur’an, and Qur’anic cross-reference. It is not a translation as the Qur’an can not be translated.

It is designed to offer young Muslims a way of accessing the Qur’an alongside their traditional core school subjects, in a format similar to the best examples of online education.

This version is easy to listen to and access, encouraging Muslims to focus on verses’ meanings, history and explanations. There are 2 reader voices to choose from. One if more dramatic and the other more sombre.

This explanation of the Qur’an is colour coded so readers know where information is drawn from. Whether it is directly something from the Qur’an, a cross-reference from another part of the Qur’an or explanations offered in the highly renowned scholarly works of Ibn Abass and Jalalayn, as well as the hadeeth collections.

Adding the hadeeth and Qur’anic cross reference has made this twice the size of traditional works referred to as translations, but colour coding has been used to show you what comes from the Qur’an in that specific verse (black text), what comes from other parts of the Qur’an to support the verse (red text) and what comes from hadeeth and tafsir (blue text).

This app is an introduction to understanding the Qur’an and the context of some of the verses, it is not meant as a replacement for studying the utterly unique, mesmerising Arabic of the Qu’ran itself. Think of this as an introduction and thus a step along the way to properly understanding and appreciating the Qur’an in Arabic.

Overall this app is part of www.quranstudyandrevision.com where students are encouraged to learn their core school subjects alongside this simple to understand introduction to the Qur’an. For too long school studies and Islamic studies have functioned on an entirely different plane. We believe that just as a student should have good access to quality, clear and concise school subject tutorials material to better understand English maths and science, the Qur’an should be just as accessible in order to help students get a good grounding in Allah’s words and Final Revelation.
