2. 쓰고 싶은 한자가 없어요.

작명은 인명용 한자 내에서만 사용하기 때문에 그 외의 한자는 사용하실 수 없습니다. 인명용 한자는 기초한자 1,800자와 대법원이 추가로 지정한 한자를 포함하여 약 8,000자 중에서만 이름자로 사용할 수 있기 때문입니다. 성(姓)은 인명용 한자의 제한을 받지 않습니다.

3. 한자의 획수가 달라요.

작명에서 한자의 획수를 계산하는 방법은 원획법을 사용하기 때문에 컴퓨터나 옥편, 인터넷에 있는 필획법과는 다릅니다. 예를 들어 수(洙)의 경우, 필획법으로는 9획이지만 작명에서는 원획법을 적용하여 부수인 삼수변이 물 수(水)로 계산되므로, 9획이 아닌 10획으로 되는 것입니다.

4. 대법원 인명용 한자인데 찾을 수가 없어요.

두음법칙이 적용된 경우인데, 첫 소리가 ‘ㄴ’ 또는 ‘ㄹ’인 한자는 각각 소리 나는 바에 따라 ‘ㅇ’ 또는 ‘ㄴ’으로 사용될 수 있습니다.
