The method of measuring the valve is usually the valve coefficient (Cv), which is also called the flow coefficient. Calculating the Cv value of the steam valve can better know the performance of the valve.
If the valve Cv is too small for the required process, the valve itself or the spool within the valve is not sufficiently sized to cause insufficient process flow.
If the valve Cv is too large for the required process, it is likely to produce high pressure drops and faster flow rates resulting in cavitation and flashing, or wear on the spool components.
