Somnus – Paul Martin

Somnus is an Anaesthesia Logbook created entirely by an Australian Anaesthetist/Anesthesiologist.

While primarily designed for Trainees in Anaesthesia it is also useful for other theatre-based trainees such as Surgical Trainees, Nursing Students & Medical Students.

Non-trainees (Consultant Anesthesiologists) can use it to track cases for their records and as all fields are fully customisable, billing item numbers can be added if required and used as search terms.

MAIN FEATURES
● Record essential case data, while keeping data entry requirements efficient.
● Add up to six (6) images per record (from camera or photo library)*
● Add notes for information not easily categorised and easily find them with a Quick Search
● Smart data entry to prevent errors (eg. preventing the addition co-morbidities for an ASA 1 patient or selecting a supervision level without a supervisor name, etc.)
● Flag cases (eg. clinical interest) with a swipe and they’ll be highlighted purple for easy identification

FULLY CUSTOMISABLE
● All list items** can be modified, deleted or add your own unique items:
● If one is renamed, all records containing it will also be updated to prevent pseudo-duplication
● Use Emoji if you wish to make items easier to spot or to create your own star rating for cases
● If one is deleted and is in use on any record, you will be warned before being allowed to delete it

SEARCH & REPORTS
● Quick searching on the main Active & Archived screens
● Search for patient IDs, notes, specialties, operations… almost anything!
● Advanced searching & filtering on the Reports screen
● Use the very items you’ve customised to filter cases in a summary view, standard list view (where you can edit individual records) or export them to a spreadsheet to do what you like with the data.
● All data entry lists (Comorbidities, Specialties, etc) are searchable.

* Photos taken with the camera will only be saved within the log entry in Somnus. All data remains private and contained within the app unless you choose to export it.

** Including Specialties, Operation Lists (within Specialties), Supervisor Names, Location Names, Co-Morbidities, Procedures & Incidents.
