CAPIT Books: Books that Teach Kids to Read
CAPIT Books is the first app that provides both books and reading instruction. Students age 5+ earn their books by completing Phonemic Awareness exercises of increasing difficulty and complexity. Because the books are earned after students demonstrate PA competency, it is guaranteed they will be able to read the books they earned.
CAPIT Books also supports younger students by teaching them the Alphabet. Our reinvented ABC Song teaches the sounds (phonemes) of the letters, and uses Visual Mnemonics to help students remember them. Our Matching Games give students ample opportunity to practice their Phonemic Awareness (PA) skills, which fully prepares them for future Phonics instruction.
CAPIT Books is fun and enjoyable, easy to implement in the classroom, and accommodates all students, whether gifted, EL, or struggling.
The National Reading Panel (NRP, 2000) has outlined the five components of reading instruction: 1. Phonemic Awareness; 2. Phonics; 3. Fluency; 4. Vocabulary; and 5. Comprehension. CAPIT Books covers all of the Big 5.
